Just found your re-union.  Most of our bunch hails from Connecticut USA.  I know Grandpa (Thomas) came from Ireland.   We're working on finding as much as we can on the family tree.  I'd be curious on where the pieces start fitting together.  [email protected]

My father was born 2 Feb 1912 at Cincinnati, Ohio, U S A as John William DAVIS/KEARNEY His mother was Elizabeth DAVIS born in Ireland about 1885- ( am still trying to get more on her) Adoption record in 1917 states she ( Elizabeth) also is deceased.(No proof of death located yet) My father’s biological father was John J KEARNEY, born April, 1883 of Columbus Ohio. Elizabeth Davis and John Kearney most likely met in Columbus, OH and were not married when my father was born. But I can show that during the pregnancy, John took Elizabeth to his sister, Winifred’s ( Winny Quinn ) in Cincinnati until the birth. Then John Kearney died at Columbus Ohio on 5 Feb 1912 ( just 3 days after my father’s birth) of tuberculosis…..( this is possibly why they did not marry …I can’t imagine suffering from a terminal disease and planning to marry) . As for Elizabeth Davis, I cannot locate a record that accounts for her after the birth…….John J Kearney was the son of James L Kearney ( born Ireland about 1845/46, died 1903 at Columbus, OH) and Bridget nee Cogle/Coggle ) Kearney of Columbus Ohio, and their only son. I suspect that my KEARNEY may be from County Mayo, or County Cork Ireland …but NO real proof of that at this point. According to record, James L Kearney immigrated to the U S A in 1872. I do not yet have port of arrival, or as to when James L Kearney and other related Kearney settled in Columbus, Ohio , or whether they first were at Cincinnati ( no proof but possibly). The one daughter of James and Bridget Kearney that I mention is , Winifred Kearney who was the only child to marry and did marry a William G Quinn and lived for a while at Cincinnati, Ohio…but in widowhood, Winifred lived and died in Columbus. On Find A Grave ( online) my Kearney and related Devaney are all buried at either Mt Calvary Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio, or else at St Joseph’s Cemetery at Lockbourne Ohio. My grfather John KEARNEY’s mother, Bridget had one sister that I know of so far. Her name was Mary ( maiden name possibly COGLE but the variations on this name are tough to follow so far )) and Mary lived in Cincy and then in Columbus and was married to Patrick Devaney. I want to connect with my Kearney and Devaney as I am certain that they have no idea that John did have a son and that I and my brothers and sister exist. I know that some other related names that can help to clarify the family branches are : Malloy/Walsh or Welsh and POSSIBLY Kinney, Murray, McHugh, Sheridan, Devaney, Cogle, Davis , Rapp, Quinn , as well as surnames that intermarried with these in Ohio, Ireland or elsewhere. I wish I knew more…. Please let me know if this connects with anyone….or maybe we just have to unravel more. I look forward to hearing from Kearney researchers, especially in Ireland. I definitely need help with this. Please write at anytime. Sincerely Aggie Moio Lancaster, Ohio [email protected]

I am Cairney from Edinburgh Scotland. I traced my gt gt gt grandfather to Patrick Kearney who arrived in Greenock from Ireland 1870's. He was likely told to change to the anglicised 'Cairney' on arrival. I would like to know which part of Ireland he came from, but probably a hard task! Thank you for the in-depth info on the name and various origins.

Greetings from Newburgh, New York, USA!

I just know that I am connected to the McAtamneys of Portglenone through my great grandfather Hugh McAtamney.  I see that Bridie and Aeneas were at the 1958 reunion.  Any McAtamneys left there now???

I found a Kearney Ledwith headstone in Newtown Abbey Graveyard Trim. My grandmother died at a young age in Longford and her family connections were lost to us. I think through the headstone that there may not be any direct Ledwith named relatives remaining but her sister Mary was married to a Kearney and she seems to have had a son
Patrick who is buried at the same place and died in 1951.
I would love to see if I could trace any living relatives from this family.
Best Wishes,
Louise farrell
